What an experience this has been! Not just the event itself, but the entire journey leading up to it.
Training for this challenge was no small task. I’ll be honest, there were plenty of moments in the gym where I found myself questioning why I was even doing it. But those hours of training pushed me in ways I never expected, and I came away with lessons I’ll carry far beyond this event.
I discovered that my body is capable of so much more than I ever gave it credit for. I learned that improving my running takes more patience and persistence than I imagined. I realized that it’s normal to have weaknesses and that no one excels at every single event. I experienced how empowering it feels to train and compete like an athlete. Most importantly, I was reminded again and again that in the moments I felt depleted, God was there, meeting me in the pain, giving me the strength to keep moving forward.
And while Jake didn’t exactly beg to sign up with me 🤣, I couldn’t have asked for a better partner to share this experience with.
